Oriba Petrolium Niger

From paper records to the connected card: how ORIBA Petroleum transformed the way it builds client loyalty.

ORIBA Petroleum case study

Context & challenges

A long-standing SENSOFT client since 2014, ORIBA Petroleum is a major player in Niger’s petroleum sector. Convinced early on of the importance of digitisation, ORIBA was looking for a solution that could secure its transactions, smooth the management of its service stations and offer its clients new digital experiences to keep them loyal.

The ambition: to support the growth of its network and strengthen its leadership through a reliable, scalable system centred on the client experience

Project objectives

  • Take control of the security and traceability of financial flows and transactions.
  • Diversify digital payment methods to meet both B2B and B2C needs.
  • Increase client loyalty through a structured, engaging programme.
  • Improve visibility and steering of operations for managers and corporate clients.

Client testimonial

“CYNOD is more than a tool, it has become the heart of our payment and loyalty ecosystem. It embodies our expertise and our ambition perfectly.”

Manager, Oriba Petroleum

The solution

  • CYNOD rolled out from 2014 with the first payment methods (Oriba cards, secure fuel vouchers – “value vouchers”).
  • Client portal and corporate features: transaction tracking, generation of electronic codes, balance transfers between fleet cards.
  • Gradual integration of digital solutions:
  • Secure transaction codes - (2014).
  • Electronic wallet to make payments simpler - (2021).
  • Top-ups through financial partners (bank cards with BSIC Niger, mobile money with AirTel, aggregators with NITA Transfert and iFuture) (2022).
  • FIDELIA introduced (2019): a loyalty programme with dedicated cards and badges, plus marketing campaigns.

Results & benefits

  • A significant reduction in fraud and better payment security across more than 100 stations around the country.
  • Widespread adoption of cards, fuel vouchers and electronic codes as the preferred means of payment.
  • Higher turnover thanks to the loyalty programme and client campaigns.
  • A better user experience: flexibility, speed, trust.
  • Greater visibility for corporate clients, with real-time steering.
  • A consolidated position as leader in fuel distribution in Niger.
